The island's wetlands, coastline and countryside are home to a wide range of birds with migrant species adding to the diversity. A number of instantly recognisable birds can often be spotted including Bee-eaters, Hoopoes, Ospreys, Kites, Egyptian Vultures, Booted Eagles, Rock thrushes, Kingfishers, Stalks and even the odd Flamingo. Owls and raptors are common on the island and keen birdwatchers will be able to identify dozens more species.
