Together with Cala Tirant the major kitespot on the island. Son Bou offers masses of space (which is lucky because it gets busy in the summer), crystal clear water and white sand. It is a great spot in a westerly and can also be good in SW and NW, although it does get a bit gusty in this direction. Onshore winds can be sailed too but the waves tend to be very close together.
Popular for kitesurfing in northerly winds, which are onshore. NNE and NNW also work but once there is too much E or W it becomes gusty, especially near the beach. The beach itself is sandy and good for rigging and launching from. There are no hidden rocks and the wind is consistent. The waves can get quite big and the shorebreak heavy. Further away from the shore the water is flatter although on big days large waves break further out too.
